RE: Picture posting thread...anyone into it?

Hello Everyone! Well I'm off the road for 2 1/2 weeks due to a special event I was a part of this past Sunday. Announcing Mark and Rhonda Gregorich! Just a few of our wedding pics, including my sons and I.

The white NIKE's add a special touch. Everybody looks very nice.
We were going for a simple casual wedding. Even my bride wore white and pink sneakers and the maid of honor actually wore flip flops! :B

Went down a nature trail in an I-45 Rest Area in TX. At first there were 3 here, but by the time I went back to get the camera and return there was only one left.

RE: NASCAR Signs of the times..

From the AutoSportBlog.com:
Auto racing the momentum for the American Le Mans Series continued to build as reports for attendance, TV ratings and website traffic trickled in following the 56th running of the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Fresh from Florida last Saturday.
The first round of the American Le Mans Series season set a new attendance record for the endurance classic. Sebring International Raceway officials announced attendance of more than 170,500 over the four-day event.
In addition, ratings for SPEED's 11 hours of coverage increased 17 percent to 173,000 households with Tampa-St. Petersburg (.52 rating), Las Vegas (.49 rating) and Seattle-Tacoma (.47 rating) coming in as the highest-rated markets. SPEED also reported outstanding positive viewer response to both its Thursday night Live Sebring Special and the race broadcast itself, the first event ever shown in high definition on the network.
Web traffic, too, increased significantly with more than 407,000 page views, 107,000 visits and 54,000-plus unique visitors for the five-day Sebring event period.
"I think these increases across most every measurable category, indicate that the American Le Mans Series is clearly adding to the momentum that was established last season," said Series President and CEO Scott Atherton. "This is not an isolated occurrence; we are seeing significant growth across the board. I can't thank our teams, drivers, manufacturers and corporate partners enough for the role they have played to establish us as the world's premier sports car series. Our 10th anniversary season is off to a great start, and the best is yet to come."

Yeah, that's cool allright, but will any of the drivers be doing backflips off their car if they win? :)
If I wanted to see gymnastics I'd watch the Olympics.
Oh, by the way attendance at ALMS races have been on the increase while NASCAR has been on a steady decline.

RE: NASCAR Signs of the times..

To be packed in like sardines with high ticket prices just to watch a bunch of outdated technology cars run in circles... Not me! I've only gone to 2 NASCAR races at Daytona and thats only because I won free tickets. However, I will be driving the MH from Orlando to Atlanta in a few weeks for the American Lemans series sports car race at Road Atlanta. The REAL Cars of Tomorrow will be racing with diesels, E85 fueled, and possibly a Hybrid this year. Of course the regular gasoline powered cars will be there as well. But a $100 ticket will get you ALL 4 DAYS, garage access, access to the drivers, access to the cars. Its just a better deal than going to a NASCAR event.
Anyway, just my 2 cents.

I saw this yesterday on the highway. A line of disguised manufacturer's cars cruising along being led by a Mercedes-Benz CLS 550 that wasn't disguised. Any ideas? Don't fret, I held the camera in the air clicking off pics while I paid attention to my driving and this was the best pic I got. :)

Pete, you need to be contacting the auto mags and tell them you have some SPY photos. They could be worth paying your next camping expenses! :B

Thanks to Geocaching, I was also brought to another cemetery with a rather famous resident for race fans. The original A.J. "Pete" Kreis, driving the famous #14 used by a later A.J. (Foyt), was killed along with a mechanic in the passenger side when the car climbed over the wall in turn #1 and hit a tree. He was 34 years old and died in 1934. His huge headstone shows it all.

I saw this sign outside one of the local churches and just had to get a pic. I started looking for THE MAN wearing a hard hat and a robe.

RE: Picture posting thread...anyone into it?

Hi Everyone! I've been enjoying ALL the great pics over the weeks. Been to busy driving myself to be able to get the camera out, but hey this is a holiday weekend. I'm sitting here on the outskirts of Knoxville, TN waiting to unload on Tuesday. Rode the bicycle about 35 miles the past 2 days around the Marbledale, Ramsey, and Moshina Heights communities. Here are just a few things I found.
This is a train bridge crossing over the Holston River where it merges with the Tennessee River.
http://www.awaywego.us/images/TN-005trk.jpg
I recall someone here liked stone walls. Can't remember who though. Just before the train bridge above crosses over it runs past a cemetery. This is the wall created to raise the ground for the tracks:
http://www.awaywego.us/images/TN-007trk.jpg
This wall was along one side of the cemetery. There used to be a church there for over a hundred years I think until it burnt down in 1980's. I forget what the sign said.

Sweet Baby James went home to be with the Lord last Wednesday. I posted a few pics of this cute little guy before. This great smile blessed so many at my church back home. He was 16 months old.

First post on this thread. :C
This is me (fish belly white...) risking my life jumping into Rainbow Pools near Yosemite. Taken by my horrified wife.

It's a LOT of fun, but be careful where you jump.
(This is fun, gotta do more pics here.)
Welcome to the PPT Thread Micheal. Looking forward to more pics.

RE: Picture posting thread...anyone into it?

Here's the entrance.
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y205/pkjr/DSC_7063.jpg
My mission was to find the cave, not explore it today. So, I went in as far as I could without a flashlight, then I went just a little further. Just a guy thing. Made for a neat flash picture!
Hey Pete,
Dress warm! If I remember correctly it's 31 degrees down in that lava tube year round. Also before you go back to explore it, sign up at www.geocaching.com. You could make the lava tube your first cache find! Here's the link to the cache page: "Journey to the Center of the Earth Cache" There's also a regular cache box about 100 yards away from the cave entrance near some trees.
Getting ready to enter, May 06:

After having gotten a clue from the rest area which gives me the combination for the lock. Now with the "travel bug resort" open, I can see the contents.

I've also been doing a lot of Geocaching lately at all the Interstate rest areas and at my stops. Occasionally I run into one that is a really cool hide. The owner of this one really put some time into this one. This was at a rest area in Illinois.

Hi Everyone! Its been a while since I've posted anything, but I have been checking in almost daily. Your photos have been wonderful! Thanks for posting them for all to enjoy.
Here's a few from me to you.
With the high cost of fuel now days, some truckers have been skipping the truck stop buffets and are now looking a bit thinner:
